A regular checkup is a routine visit that allows our professional team to check a patient’s teeth and provide a more thorough cleaning than what is possible at home. Making these visits regularly is very important, as they are the best way to properly assess an individual’s current oral health. A patient should receive a regular checkup at least every six months. Each visit will allow a patient to know exactly where their dental health stands and what they need to do to improve it. They will also appreciate our professional teeth cleaning which eliminates surface stains and freshens breath.
There are several components that go into a regular checkup. One of the most important is the full examination. We will conduct a thorough visual examination of the teeth and gums. Our dentists can get a much better and more accurate look than what is possible at home. We know exactly what to look for, and we can quickly identify any signs of deterioration, decay or gum disease. Then, if necessary, we will create a personalized treatment plan based on our findings to better provide service for the patient.
A regular checkup also includes a professional teeth cleaning. This service is the best way to eliminate the bacteria, tartar and plaque that could lead to cavities. We use dental tools to scrape away unwanted accumulations on the teeth and at the gum line. We then use advanced equipment to cleanse and polish the teeth. The patient should then work to maintain this cleanliness with daily brushing and flossing.
Our experts may also take digital X-rays during a regular checkup. Digital X-rays are images taken using advanced radiography devices. This allows us to get a look at the mouth’s hidden areas and detect issues that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Any images we produce can easily be uploaded to a monitor. This way, we can quickly and conveniently share any important findings with the patient. Some issues that are commonly detected using digital X-rays include tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone deterioration and more.
Our regular checkups also include an oral cancer screening.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer is a condition that occurs when cells grow at an uncontrollable rate. It is a very serious disease that should be checked for regularly. This condition is most easily treated when caught early, but if the condition is allowed to spread, it can be life-threatening. During the oral cancer screening, we examine the patient’s face, tongue, throat, lips, gums and other soft oral tissues for any signs of cancer.

Best dental staff ever! I have been going here since the 90s and i will never use or trust any dentist with my teeth except Dr. Garza! Thanks for everything! P.s. they make you feel like family here!
Dr. Roel Garza is a skilled dentist who did an excellent job extracting a broken molar. He is thorough and communicates well with his patients. The front office staff and hygienists/assistants are good too. I recommend this dental practice.
